Install and open the Mac app

The current Mac installer is Developer ID signed but is not notarized by Apple. Because of that, macOS can show this message the first time you open it:

Apple could not verify “Cantero Madera” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy.

This warning is expected for the current release. Approve the app only when you downloaded it from the official Cantero Madera download page.

Install the app

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
2. Drag Cantero Madera into Applications if the installer window asks you to.
3. Open Applications, then open Cantero Madera once.
4. When macOS displays the verification warning, select Done.

Allow the first launch

1. Open the Apple menu and select System Settings.
2. Select Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
3. Scroll down to the Security section.
4. Find the message saying Cantero Madera was blocked and select Open Anyway.
5. Use Touch ID or enter your Mac login password when macOS asks.
6. Confirm by selecting Open.

Cantero Madera should open normally on later launches. A new downloaded version may require the same approval again.

Caution

Do not disable Gatekeeper, change system-wide security settings, or paste Terminal commands that remove quarantine attributes. Use the per-app Open Anyway control so macOS continues protecting you from other untrusted downloads.

If Open Anyway is missing

• Make sure you tried to open Cantero Madera once before visiting Privacy & Security.
• Leave System Settings open, try opening the app again, and return to Privacy & Security.
• Confirm the app is in Applications, not still running from the disk image.
• Download the installer again from the official download page if the file is incomplete or came from another source.

If macOS reports that the app is damaged, its signature is invalid, or it should be moved to the Trash, do not bypass that message. Delete that copy and contact support.
